One of the most anticipated fall events in Raleigh is The World Beer Festival, which is held on Oct. 19th. Celebrate 25 years of great beer by sampling all sorts of brews from local, national and international breweries. General admission tickets include entry and unlimited samples of beer. Falling for Local at Dorothea Dix Park

You’re sure to fall in love with autumn in Raleigh when you attend Falling for Local at Dorothea Dix Park Oct. 19th. This is one of the free events in Raleigh you don’t want to miss with live music, local makers and vendors selling unique pieces and delicious bites, hayrides and free pumpkins. Sip on a beer or cider from one of the brewery tents while you browse and make memories with your friends and family.

 

Day of the Dead 5K and Festival

Rid yourself of your Halloween candy binge guilt and sign up for the Day of the Dead 5k on Oct. 26th. The annual event features a 5K race and an altar where participants can leave something in remembrance of their loved ones. Stay after the race for the costume contest and enjoy traditional Dia De Los Muertos festivities including live music, food and drinks.

 

North Carolina Gourd Festival

If quirky is your thing, then check out the 77th Annual North Carolina Gourd Festival. Held on Nov. 9th and Nov. 10th at North Carolina State Fairgrounds, the festival hosts competitions for gourd growers and crafters. Browse the displays to see gourds from around the world. Vote for your favorite gourd creation in one of the themed competitions. You can even take a class to learn new ways you can use this garden oddity.

 

Moonlight in the Garden

Experience the JC Raulston Arboretum after dark during Moonlight in the Garden on Nov. 7th through Nov. 9th and Nov. 14th through Nov. 16th. Stroll through the garden, listen to a live band, grab a bite to eat from a food truck, roast a marshmallow or two at the fire pits and sip a cup of hot apple cider. Don’t forget your camera because you’ll want to capture these moments!

 

Frankenstein – Carolina Ballet

Few fall events in Raleigh are as unique as this spooky ballet performance! Get in the spirit of the season with an evening of chills and thrills delivered by Carolina Ballet! Artistic Director Zalman Raffael’s Frankenstein features all new sets, costumes and music. Catch the show on stage at The Duke Energy Center now thru Oct. 27th.
