Summer is far from over, and with big acts like Nelly and Jason Aldean coming to town, it’ll be one to remember. The Triangle hits all the right notes when it comes to live music and rockin’ venues. Here’s our rundown of the greatest summer concerts in Raleigh to put on your calendar.
Mary J Blige & Nas
See two of hip-hop and R&B’s most legendary artists, Mary J. Blige and Nas as they take the stage at one of the hottest concerts in Raleigh this summer! Touring together for the first time across North America, these two superstars will be bringing a lively and impassioned set of songs, including some of the biggest hits from both of their careers. See the show at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on July 25th.
Florida Georgia Line
Country fans are lining up to see Florida Georgia Line at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on July 26th. Fueled by their top-charting fourth album, “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country,” the duo is digging into their roots with hit tracks like “Simple” and “H.O.L.Y.” Also on the lineup are Dan + Shay, Morgan Wallen and Hardy.
Nelly, TLC and Flo Rida
Nelly, TLC and Flo Rida hit the road together for a sizzling North American tour this summer. The hitmakers are coming to town for one of the biggest concerts in Raleigh on July 27th at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. It’s bound to be a non-stop party with each artist delivering hit after hit all night long, so get ready to get low!
311 and Dirty Heads
The good vibes will be filling the summer air as 311 and Dirty Heads take the stage in Raleigh. The two rock-reggae-ska bands will perform on July 28th at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, along with The Interrupters and Dreamers. 311’s new album VOYAGER is in the works and will be released while the band is on tour on July 12th.
The Flaming Lips
Spend an evening in indie rock heaven on August 7th at Red Hat Amphitheater. Raleigh is the final stop on The Flaming Lips’ tour in support of their newest album, “King’s Mouth: Music and Songs.” The Claypool Lennon Delirium will round out the show with psychedelic space rock, featuring Ramos Nishita of the Beastie Boys on keyboards and Paul Baldi of the Fungi Band on drums.
Heart with Joan Jett and Elle King
Get ready to Rock with Heart on August 10th at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. The pioneering, female-fronted rock band is bringing womanpower and positivity everywhere they go during their “Love Alive” tour. With openers like Joan Jett and Elle King and songs from Heart’s ten Billboard Top 10 albums, you know this will be one of the concerts in Raleigh that you will never forget!
You’ll have a hard time finding more iconic hard rockers on one stage than at Breaking Benjamin’s concert on August 18th at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. Openers include Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Dorothy and Diamante. Each of the bands will play some of their smash hits along with their new music.
Beck and Cage the Elephant
Count on an amazing live performance that is full of energy at Beck and Cage The Elephant’s show on August 24th at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. “The Night Running Tour” came about after the two bands teamed up on Cage’s upcoming album “Social Cues.” You can feel good about purchasing tickets because $1 from every ticket sold will be donated back into the Triangle to help end hunger in our own community.
Chaka Khan is one of the most celebrated voices in American pop music. The 10-time Grammy Award recipient has sold 70 million records worldwide and is bringing her soulful voice to The NCMA’s Theater in the Museum Park on August 29th. In addition to her top hits like “Tell Me Something Good” and “I Feel for You,” Chaka Khan will perform songs from her newly-released album, “Hello Happiness.”
Get ready for a whole lot of garage rock grit because The Raconteurs are back in action! The band is touring this summer in support of the band’s first new album in 11 years, “Help Us Stranger.” See The Raconteurs do their thing at the Red Hat Amphitheater on September 3rd, along with special guest Olivia Jean, lead vocalist for The Black Belles.
