4th Annual Midtown Music Fest

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby with one fun event in Midtown on May 5th! The 4th Annual Midtown Music Fest celebrates Spring and the return of outdoor music to North Hills. Popular local food trucks and craft beer vendors will be on site and street performers will keep you entertained all day.


Adult Nights at The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

Use the Force and explore new galaxies, distant worlds and cutting-edge technologies at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences on May 4th! Your ticket to Adult Nights: May the 4th Be With You gives you access to the special Star Wars-themed exhibits as well as a dance party in the SECU Daily Planet Theater. Discover the real-world inspirations for the creatures in Star Wars, interact with R2-D2 and BB-8 replicas and fight in an epic Laser Tag battle.


Beer & Bark Bonanza

Check out Raleigh’s newest brewery and bring or find a furry best friend during the Beer & Bark Bonanza on May 12th. The event will feature music, local vendors, a silent auction, beer and empanadas. A portion of the sales benefit Cause for Paws, an organization that works with animal shelters in North Carolina to provide unwanted dogs with foster homes until they are adopted.


Thrive NC

Celebrate North Carolina’s food, culture and community at the first-ever Thrive NC on May 10th and May 11th at City Market in Downtown Raleigh. Grab food and drink from over fifty local restaurants and breweries while listening to live music. The two-day event presented by Blue Cross NC promotes on how communities thrive when they are healthy and active.


Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo

The Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo is a foodie’s dream, involving a half-mile of food trucks and restaurants spread over 11 city blocks. Sit along the sidewalks and enjoy some of the best food from the area on May 6th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you don’t make it this month, the rodeo is one of the things to do in Raleigh that occurs every month through October!


Got To Be N.C. Festival

Head to the North Carolina State Fairgrounds May 18th through May 20th to revel in what makes our state great at the Got To Be N.C. Festival. The agricultural festival features food companies, breweries and wineries all sampling and selling delightful flavors from the area. Don’t miss the fireworks shows on Friday and Saturday evening!



Artsplosure is one of the Southeast’s top arts festivals and things to do in Raleigh, happening May 18th through May 20th. The festival attracts tens of thousands of spectators to downtown Raleigh to celebrate fine visual art and live music. Take in all of the interesting pieces of work on display and gain a new cultural perspective.



Dress as your favorite Japanese anime character and head to the Animazement convention in Raleigh on May 25th through May 27th! Whether you’re a fan of manga, J-rock or martial arts, the convention has something you’ll love! Celebrities and industry guests will be in attendance speaking and signing autographs.


Freedom Balloon Fest

If you’re looking for things to do in Raleigh over Memorial Day Weekend, the Freedom Balloon Fest must be on your short list! The event will take place May 25th through May 28th at Fleming Loop Park and admission is free. Look on as dozens of hot air balloons fill the skies in honor and remembrance of those who have served in the military. Order food, drink and take home memorabilia from local vendors and artists while enjoying live music during the event.


Longleaf Film Festival

The Longleaf Film Festival takes place on May 11th and May 12th and highlights the best short and feature-length films that demonstrate a Tar Heel State connection. The films either take place in North Carolina or are made by someone with North Carolina ties. The festival features film screenings, workshops and a public Wrap Party, all held at the North Carolina Museum of History.
