There’s no question that dogs experience emotions, and when you’re a dog parent, you’re constantly looking for ways to make them smile from ear to floppy ear. Luckily when you’re in Raleigh, you and your dog are both considered a part of the community. From dog parks to pet-friendly restaurants, here are six ways you can spend the day with your pup in Raleigh.
Get Fit and Fluffy at Woffinwaggle
Woffinwaggle is the first fitness center in North Carolina built for dog parents. Bond with your furry best friend while working out side-by-side with your pup in one of the fun exercise classes. After your workout, treat your dog to a luxurious bath in one of the self-serve dog wash rooms and head out for a fun day in the town.
See a Little History
Put Fido on a leash and head to the Historic Oak View County Park, a park dedicated to the history of farming. You can check out the restored 19th-century historic farmstead where farmers still grow herbs and pecans and keep livestock.
Go To The Park
Raleigh is full of expansive dog-friendly parks. On a beautiful day, there’s no better way to enjoy the sun than by going to the park and getting some fresh air. Go for a walk around the lake in Pullen Park or Lake Wheeler Park, and your dog can chase geese and put their paws in the water. Let your dog run free and off the leash at Oakwood Dog Park, Millbrook Exchange Dog Park, or Carolina Pines Dog Park.
Raleigh is home to some great dog-friendly restaurants, including J Betski’s, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, and The Remedy Diner, where you can enjoy a great view of Moore Square, the “Central Park” of Raleigh. If you’re craving Italian, you can share a wood oven pizza with your pup while you sip a pint of craft beer at one of the outdoor tables at Tazza Kitchen.
Enjoy Some Tunes
If you happen to be looking for something to do on the first Friday of the month, head down with your dog to City Market. Live music throughout Downtown Raleigh will fill your ears as you peruse the art galleries in the streets and shops. Take a human friend along to watch your furry friend so you can pop in and get a complimentary glass of wine.
Be An Art Critic
Your dog can enjoy the finer things along with you at The North Carolina Museum of Art. Go for a walk along the paved outdoor trail that is lined with statues and sculptures. Take in the surrounding pasture-like fields that are truly the perfect southern setting.
Watch a Movie Outdoors
Why go to a movie theater when you can watch a film outside, with your dog? The PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series features all types of movies from classic and family-friendly flicks to Oscar winners and new releases. On Fridays the movies are free, so grab a blanket, some popcorn and a rawhide for your pup and cuddle up to watch a well-loved movie such as Sister Act or The Sandlot.
